Apply In-Person:

  1. In order to apply for destitute or deserted wives pension, the applicant has to approach the nearest office of the Collector / Tahsildar / BDO / Circle officer of the revenue department as appropriate.
  2.   3. Go to the respective office. Consult with the designated authority about the applying procedure for this scheme if offered and the responsible local department office for this scheme. Collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
  4. Complete the application form.  Attach the entire required documents as per our “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority as advised.
  5. After receiving the application, authorities will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted. Please pay the fees/charges if applicable and don’t forget to take the receipt.
  6. The authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer.*Acknowledgement receipt will be given against every application received. Please collect it and keep it safe for future reference.
  7. Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the scheme.
  8. This application will be processed further. Concerned authorities will verify the applicant’s details and documents.
  9. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile.
  10. Once the application details and documents are appropriate, this application will be forwarded to the respective VAO/RI/designated authority for inspection and scrutiny.
  11. These officials will do their due diligence. They will check the credibility of the applicant with the neighbours and do ground level verification. A report will be generated from the above inspection.
  12. After verification, these applications along with the inspection report will be sent to the respective sanctioning department with the consent of the verification authorities.
  13. Applicant may be asked to appear before the principle medical officer as advised for the age assessment.
  14. Concerned sanctioning authority will take the right decision against the appeal based on the above reports.
  15. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
  16. Once approved, the pensioner will be eligible to get the pension from the first week of next month onwards (or as per sanctioned period) Based on the availability of funds.
  17. Applicant shall revisit the office where they applied for update on their application.


Note:

  • The pension amount Rs.1,000/- (or the amount fixed by respective state) will be paid per month.
  • The pension can be disbursed through a bank account or through postal.
  • Destitute or deserted wives pension is determined in different schemes as named by respective states by the respective social welfare / Women and child welfare department / Municipal department/ revenue department as appropriate.
  • Applicant has to bring original documents to the applying office while applying for cross verification purpose and scanning if required.
  • Without cross signature on photograph and signature on the undertaking, the application will be rejected.
  • Eligible pension amount fixed by the Government from time to time shall be sent to the beneficiary through bank account / post office account / money order / distributed personally as per the applicable norms of the respective state.

EligibilityEdit

  • Applicant should be citizen of India.
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of the respective state.
  • A divorced, separated, abandoned, deserted/destitute women above the age of 30 years (or as per the age limit fixed by respective state) and above is eligible to apply.
  • Must be legally divorced or separated or deserted for not less than 5 years (or as per the years fixed by respective state) or with a legal separation certificate from a competent court of law.
  • The marital status of the applicant should be divorced / separated.
  • Applicant without any income or source of income is eligible (please check with the department for any relaxation).
  • Applicant owning fixed assets valuing less than Rs.50,000/- (or as per state norms) are eligible to apply.
  • Applicant who has no relatives of 18 years of age and over (relatives are of the following category: son, son’s son and other related persons who normally live together) shall apply.
  • No person shall be eligible for the pension, if the person is a beneficiary of any other social welfare pensions.
  • The applicant should not be an income tax-payer.
  • No person shall be eligible…
    • If she resorts to habitual begging.
    • If recipient of salary / pension / family pension from Central Government / other State Governments.
    • If beneficiary of two different local bodies.
    • If she is remarried.

  • Beneficiary will get pension as long as they are in the same status (deserted / destitute)

  • Do not submit fake documents as proof to obtain this certificate.
  • Incomplete application will be rejected.
  • Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Under the destitute or deserted wives pension, the eligible candidate is provided a monthly pension as per respective state norms for the social welfare of the candidate.
  • At present, the local bodies have been entrusted with the task of receiving the application, processing, granting and distribution of the pension.
