Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew Commercial Pilot License (CPL) in Ghana, the applicant has to contact the nearest Civil Aviation Authority Office in Ghana.
2. Renewed application form can be obtained by visiting the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Branch Offices.

4. Applicant has to enter all the information in the renewed application form.
5. Also, make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. After filling the renewal application form the applicant is required to submit them to the GCAA office and the applicant are also to proceed to pay the prescribed application fees and submit the payment receipt to together with the application documents.
8. A processing time of 7 days is needed to complete the processing of the Commercial Pilot License (CPL), after which the applicant will be contacted through a phone call to collect his/her renew license at the GCAA offices.
9. The applicant will be required to carry his/her identification documents when collecting applicant’s renewed license.

Required Documents

• Renewal application form
• English Language Proficiency endorsement
• Flight Radio Telephony Operator’s License
• A valid Medical Certificate - Class 1
• Four passport size photographs - full face (2cm by 2.5cm);
• A photo Identification Card or Passport and a copy of the same
• Complete the prescribed summary of the flying experience form;
• Logged the required 6 hours for renewal which should have been flown within the last 6 months.
• Certified copies of the last 2 pages of the personal logbook. These pages show the latest flying experience certified by the pilot’s supervisor, who will certify the relevant logbook entries by endorsing his signature and license number.
• Payment receipt of the prescribed fees.

Eligibility

• Applicant must have a valid or expired Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
• Applicant must be in possession of a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
• The pilot should have met the required renewal hours of six hours in the last twelve months.

Fees

• A fee of GHS.4, 500 are charged for this application.

Validity

• This License is valid for a period of twenty four months from the date of issue or renewal.

Instructions

The applicant should:-

• Complete the CPL prescribed renewal application form.
• Complete the flying experience summary form.
• Submit Class 1 Medical Certificate together with all the required documents to the GCAA offices.
• Pay the renewal applicable fees and submit the payment receipt.
• Wait for the processing period to elapse then collect applicant’s renewed CPL license.
