Procedure

1. Have the wiring of your house/premises be done by a certified electrician and obtain the wiring diagram of the House/ Building properly drawn and rubberstamped by the registered Electrical Contractor who undertook the wiring
2. Visit any Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) to obtain the application form for power supply by producing your identification document.
3. Fill the form accurately and attach the required document including the wiring diagram and on photograph of yourself.
4. Submit the complete application to the office you obtained it from for validation.
5. The TANSCO official will check your application if it is correct and has all the required documents attached to it.
6. If the application is verified, you will be issued with a quotation for the connection in this order:
   • Within 7 working days where the Service Line does not exceed 30 Meters from the nearest pole.
   • Within 10 working days where line extension is required of not more than 100 Meters
   • Within 14 working days where new networks have to be established or if supply is required for Industrial and Commercial Customers.
7. Once you have received the quotation and met all the required obligations, pay for the service line connection.
8. Having paid, the electricity will be connected your house/premise in this order:
   • Within 30 working days where the existing infrastructure can be used (within 30 meters from the nearest appropriate TANESCO existing infrastructure)
   • Within 60 working days where lines extensions of not more than 100 meters (that is when you are located within 60 Meters to 100 meters from nearest TANESCO existing infrastructure).
   • Within 90 working days where new networks have to be established or if High Voltage Lines extensions are required for industrial and commercial customers (that means if there is no nearby infrastructure to supply the applicant).

POWER INTERCONNECTIONS PRICES ARE AS FOLLOWS (INC. VAT):
SINGLE PHASE

• Rural Electrical connection at distances less than 30 Meters with nearest existing infrastructure facilities is TZS 177, 000.00.
• Urban electrical connection at distance less than 30 Meters with nearest existing infrastructure facilities is TZS 320,960.00.
• Rural Customers requiring electricity where TANESCO existing Infrastructure is located within 60 meters is TZS 337,740.00
• Urban Customers requiring electricity where TANESCO existing Infrastructure is located within 60 meters is TZS 515,618.00
• Rural Customers requiring electricity where TANESCO existing Infrastructure is located within 90 meters is TZS 454,654.00
• Urban Customers requiring Electricity where TANESCO existing Infrastructure is located within 90 meters is TZS 696,670.00

• Rural and Urban customers requiring Electricity where TANESCO existing Infrastructure less than 30 Meters is TZS 912,014.00
• Rural and Urban Customers requiring Electricity where TANESCO existing Infrastructure is located within 60 Meters is TZS 1,249,385.00
• Rural and Urban Customers requiring Electricity where TANESCO existing Infrastructure is located within 90 Meters is TZS 1,639,156.00

Validity

• Connected electricity is valid forever and subjected to payment according to consumption.

Processing Time
