- A person desirous of Re-registering a Firearm license from one state to another should visit the Commissioner of police's office or the licensing authority office in their district. Contact link
- This procedure is a must for every firearm license holder when they shift to another state or UT or district or a different locality than the address on the license and should be done within 6 months of shifting to the new location.

- Complete the applicationform and submit it along with the required documents to the authority for approval.
- The state's licensing authoritywill approve the application, and the UIN (unique identification number) of the license shall stand activated with the new authority and deactivated with the earlier licensing authority.

- To Transfer (Re-register) Firearm (Gun) License from One State to Another State, the applicant has to use the following link – link
- The applicant has to click the “State Home Department/DM/SDM/Other/MHA” button.
- Now select the category, state, district, name of the licensing authority, and service.
- The applicant has to enter the unique identification code (UIC), and captcha code and click the “Get Detail” button.
- To complete step – 2, the applicant has to enter all the details in license specific details segment.
- For the third step complete the endorsement details.
- And upload all the necessary documents which are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Fee details will be mentioned in the following step; the applicant has to pay the fee online mode.
- After completing all the processes, the applicant has to click the “Save & Submit” button.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be downloaded. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Once the process gets completed successfully, the applicant gets the cancellation firearm license with the authority's signature through email.
- The processing time for this procedure is up to 45 days.

Need for the DocumentEdit
As per rule 17 of the Arms Rules, 2016, if a person holds a firearm license and changes his residence, permanently or temporarily, they should complete this procedure for more than six months.

- Personnel of Defence Forces
- Central Armed Police Forces
- Officers of All India Services
- Officers in the Government/ Government Sector Undertakings/Public Sector Undertakings (with liability to serve anywhere in India)
- Dedicated sportspersons
