Tamil Nadu - Register under PICME for RCH ID

Apply In-Person:
- To apply for PICME registration in person, the expectant mother has to visit any nearest government health care centre or hospital or contact the local nurse / Aanganwadi centre worker. Click on the following link for contact details Link
- Get an application form for PICME registration from the nurse/ Aanganwadi centre worker.
- Complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections.
- After filling the application form, make sure to attach all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Then, submit it to the nurse/ Aanganwadi centre worker.
- After submission, the application along with the attached documents will be forwarded for verifications.
- After all the internal processes are over, the expectant mothers will be notified the 12 digit registration code through SMS.
- Note:The number is essential to avail the birth certificate of your new-born, so keep it safe.
- Once registered on the system, the expectant mothers can avail benefits under the RCH scheme and can avail benefits under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme (MRMBS) as well (if eligible). Please check the “Eligibility” section of this page for more details.
Apply Online:
- Pregnant women can also apply for a PICME card and register online easily from Tamil Nadu Government’s official website Link
- Click on the “Pre-Registration” by public link in the top right corner of the page.
- Applicant will be redirected to “Pre-Registration of Pregnancy” page.
- Follow the on-screen instructions, provide the necessary details in applicable fields and complete the registration form.
- NotePlease choose the administrative unit very carefully and fill in the accurate details in the form to avoid any inconvenience during the verification process.
- Provide a valid E-mail id and the mother’s mobile number and click on the “Generate OTP” button.
- Type in the OTP and the CAPTCHA code, and click on the “Save” button to complete the form filling process.
- Upon successful registration, the applicant will receive a 12 digit identification number (RCH ID) via SMS and E-mail.
- Note: Once registered on the system, the expectant mothers can avail benefits under the RCH scheme and can avail benefits under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme (MRMBS) as well (if eligible). Please check the “Eligibility” section of this page for more details.
- Post registration, the applicants can login anytime to check the status of their PICME number by visiting the official portal Link and providing the username and password in the required fields.
Apply through Centres:
- Pregnant women can also opt to register under PICME by contacting any of the nearby Seva centres. Click here for the list of e-seva centres in Tamil Nadu Address Details
- Visit the centre and request for Pre-Registration of Pregnancies – PICME.
- Complete the online registration form with appropriate information under relevant sections.
- The service is free of cost and the processing fee of Rs.15 will be borne by the department.
- Upon successful registration, the applicant will receive a 12 digit identification number (RCH ID) via SMS and E-mail.
- Note Once registered on the system, the expectant mothers can avail benefits under the RCH scheme and can avail benefits under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme (MRMBS) as well (if eligible). Please check the “Eligibility” section of this page for more details.

- Spouse Aadhaar Card as the Residential proof
- Marriage Certificate
- Medical Reports including scanning
- Gynaecologist prescriptions
- Last three months transaction records
- Two photographs
For availing Maternity Benefit Scheme, ANY ONE of the following documents can be used as address proof:
- Bank Pass book with photo
- Voter ID
- Ration Card
- Passport
- Driving License
- MGNREGS Job Card
- Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Card
- Any other photo ID issued by Government.

EligibilityEdit
For PICME Registration:
- Only expecting mothers residing in Tamil Nadu (for more than 6 months) can apply.
For benefits under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme:
- The pregnant mother should have completed 19 yrs. of age.
- The eligible mother will receive all 5 instalments for two deliveries only.
- HOB and Migrant mothers will receive 1st and 5th instalments on certain conditions.

The registration is done free of cost.
ValidityEdit
Pregnant women can register right from the inception of pregnancy until obtaining a birth certificate for the new born.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- Mothers registered under the PICME scheme will be under the surveillance of local nurses, hence, ensuring the safety and good health of both the mother and the child.
- Women registered under the PICME scheme can avail financial help of 18,000 rupees under the Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefits Scheme as well.
- Government of Tamil Nadu has made it compulsory to register all pregnancies and to give RCH ID for registration of births.
Information which might helpEdit
- Even if the mother does not have RCH ID at the time of delivery, she must register immediately at least after delivery and submit the RCH ID to the hospital concerned.
