Procedure

• Reach your nearest registrar office submit the completed application form with required documents and fees.
• Both, husband and wife should be present before registrar (Prior appointment is needed) - Both have to sign the Register infront of the Registrar in the office.
• There should be atleast 4 people with them to support their marriage and two of them sign for witness
• Original Marriage Invitation and atleast one photo showing both in wedding dress with garlands, etc.
  
  

Apply In Person:

1. To Register a Marriage, the applicant has to approach the Register office - link link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. Fill the Application form duly signed by both husband and wife. Submit it to the receiving authority along with required documents and fees as advised.
4. The submitted application will be recorded in the registry after verification. Applicant will be provided with the receipt for the submitted application.
5. Applicant will be asked to come to the premises on a scheduled date to complete the registration.
6. On the said day, both parties, along with a Gazetted Officer who attended their marriage, need to be present before the registrar.
7. Please follow the guidelines of the authorities to complete the formalities for registration.
8. Applicant and witness will be asked to sign on the registry to endorse their marriage.
9. The Certificate will be issued on the same day for the already solemnised marriage.
10. In case of the application made in advance (before marriage) for the issuance of certificate, authorities will look for any objection from public for thirty days and then the process will be executed on the day of marriage by a assigned authority and the certificate will be issued as applicable.
    

Note:

• In marriage registration, the applicants will have to show the proof of wedding that has been solemnized somewhere else and now the groom and bride want to register it legally.
• All of whom involved in registration must carry originals of ID proof and address proof at the time of registration.

Apply through e-Service centers or Common Service Centers (CSC)

1. You can also approach the e-service centers or the CSC centers for availing this service.
2. You can find the e-service centers in the municipality office or teshil office in your area.

Note: If you can not find out the nearest registrar office, go to Ashok Nagar Registrar office (near pillar) to find out where is your near by registrar office (for Guindy Area). Ashok Nagar Registrar office is the old shopping complex next to Udhayam Theater (near pillar).

Marriage Proof

• Wedding Invitation (or)
• Temple Marriage Receipts (or)
• Any proof of marriage solemnization

Residence

• Employee ID Card (or)
• Ration Card (or)
• Driving License (or)
• Passport or Visa (or)
• Election card

Age

• Birth Certificate (or)
• School/College Certificate (or)
• Voters ID (or)

In addition to the above memorandum in duplicate with 4 passport size photograph for bride and 4 passport size photograph for bridegroom should be submitted.

Witnesses

• Id card for minimum two witness to be produced
