Tamil Nadu - Link Ration Card to Aadhaar Card

Apply Online

  1. Please use the following link to reach the online portal Link
  2. In the given page, please select the menu “Ration Cards” > “Ration Card Details on State Portals” option to reach a “Ration Cards/Beneficiars under NFSA” page.
  3. Here, please select the respective state to reach the respective state portal to apply online.
  4. Once the applicant reaches the state portal, the applicant shall follow the below-mentioned steps as applicable.


Apply Online through State portal

  1. Please use the following link to reach the online portal link
  2. In the new page, please click on the “Citizen Login” option listed on the left part of the screen to reach “Login” page.
  3. User shall enter their registered mobile number at the prompted space under “Mobile Number *”, enter the captcha as appropriate and click the “Submit” button to receive an “OTP” in their registered mobile number.
  4. Please enter this received “OTP” at prompted space as appropriate and click the “Submit” button.
  5. A new screen will be provided with the respective ration card details. Here, please select “Family Members” (third) option in the left part of the screen to get a new screen.
  6. This screen will have the list of members from the respective ration card.
  7. In the given list, the applicant shall find the last 4 digits of the Aadhaar number at the end of the table under “Aadhaar Number”. If the space is empty, then the Aadhaar is not linked.
  8. The user shall enter the Aadhaar number at the given space as appropriate against the respective member name and click on the applicable button to link the ration card to Aadhaar.
  9. An “SMS” notification will be sent to the applicant mobile number. Please save it for future reference and keep track of the notification.
  10. Finally, the applicant will receive the notification about the successful linking of Aadhaar card with Ration card.


Apply In-Person:

  1. A valid ration cardholder shall approach their respective ration shop of their area or the assistant commissioner (AC) office /Taluk Supply Officers (TSO) office as applicable to link ration card to Aadhaar card.
  2. Contact link AND link for district Select district option from the left part of the screen. In the given page, please select the name of the district to reach the respective district page. Here, select the hyperlink for the respective portal. In the district portal, please select “DIRECTORY > PUBLIC UTILITIES > Municipalities“ or “DIRECTORY > Contact Directory” or “ABOUT DISTRICT > ADMINISTRATIVE SETUP > Revenue Administration” option for the contact details. The applicant shall make use of the contact details provided in the above pages as appropriate to get the ration shop address for their area.
  3. Please visit the respective office as applicable.
  4. The applicant shall orally request the authority for linking the ration card with Aadhaar. Also, the applicant may obtain the application form if available.
  5. The authority will start the process immediately or the authority will ask the applicant to visit the office as per notified timing.
  6. At the time of process, the applicant need to submit the completed application form (if provided), photocopies of the Aadhaar cards of all the family members as well as a photocopy of the ration card along with the documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. After receiving the application, the authorities will examine the application and other documents furnished. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  8. The applicant shall follow the guidelines of the authorities and provide the biometric details (fingerprints verification) on the EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) machine or as per the option available at the respective office.
  9. The applicant should make sure to keep the Aadhaar linked mobile number as well as the mobile number registered in the records for the corresponding ration card along with them at the time of applying.
  10. Once the above said steps are completed, the authority will provide an acknowledgement receipt. Please keep it safe for future reference.
  11. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification from the department.
  12. This application will be processed further. The applicant will receive another SMS notification upon the successful linking of both the documents.
  13. The entire process can be completed within 1 week or as per the timeline notified by the department.


Link Aadhaar with ration card through SMS

  1. The applicant shall use the following number to send an “SMS” as per the appropriate format given below: “51969”.
  2. Please type the message as “UID SEED <State Short Code> <Scheme/Program Short Code> <Scheme/Program ID> <Aadhaar Number>”
    1. The “<State Short Code>” is the state code. Please use the following link to get the respective State codeLink
    2. The “<Scheme/Program Short Code>” is the scheme code as per the state norms.
    3. The “<Scheme/Program ID>” is the seven-digit code.
    4. The “<Aadhaar Number>” is the 12 digit unique Aadhaar number.
  3. On receipt of the application, an “SMS” notification will be sent to the applicant mobile number. Please save it for future reference and keep track of the notification.
  4. Finally, the applicant will receive the notification about the verification and successful linking of Aadhaar card with Ration card.
  5. The entire process can be completed within a week or as per the department notified timeline.

  • Identity proof of the applicant (Voter ID / Passport / Aadhaar card / Driving licence / Bank Passbook)

  • Application should be filled up in black ink.
  • Please make sure to provide correct Aadhaar number.
  • Incomplete application will be rejected.
  • Do not submit fake documents as a proof.
  • Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
  • If it comes to notice of the department at a later date that particulars given by an applicant are either wrong or contrary to truth, the family card issued will be cancelled and action will be pursued against the applicant.
