Tamil Nadu - Get I-Card for Disabled Persons for Train Ticket Concession

Apply In-Person
- To get an I-card for Train Ticket Concession, the Disabled person has to visit the nearest Divisional Railway Manager office in-person. DRM Offices
- Procure the prescribed application form to apply for this service. In the procured application form, fill all the required details and your phone number for contact.
- Attach the self-attested photocopy of all the required documents with the application form.
- Submit the documents to the concerned authority.
- Receive the acknowledgement receipt and keep it safe for further reference.
- Your application will be further processed and the D.R.M officer will run a background verification on your details through the police.
- Once the verification is done, the I-Card will be made ready and the applicant will receive a call or sms on the phone number provided.
- The applicant can visit the D.R.M office in person or send a representative to collect the I-Card on behalf of him/her. The representative should carry a handwritten permission letter provided by the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) with duly attested signature of the representative.
- Visit the respective office to get your certificate after the processing time allotted by the officials during the time of application.
- After receiving the photo identity card, the concession certificate will now become invalid. The disabled person has to now use only the I-Card with 11-digit Id number for all services related to railways.

- The application can be done in three step registration.
- The applicant has to read all the instructions and the procedure of online application on the given screen.
- The applicant has to click the “Continue” button to start the registration process.
- Fill all details after open Registration step 1 and click the “SUBMIT" button.
- On successful entry of step 1 the OTP will be generated on the given mobile number.
- NOTE: As soon as the OTP generated it should be entered in the appropriate box within 15 minutes.
- The login id will be activated successfully.
- For completing the second and third stage, login on the home page using login id and password.
- Fill the details in the step-2 registration process and click the “Submit” button.
- After entering all the details, the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Once completed, the applicant has to click the “Submit” button.
- There is no fee for this procedure.
- After the verification process is done, the applicant will get the SMS.
- The applicant has to visit the office to get an I-card.
- The processing time for this procedure is within one month.

- Concession Certificate or Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card
- Original Medical Certificate with the sign and seal of a government doctor.
- Photo Identity Proof (Aadhaar card/ Driving Licence/ Ration card/ Voter ID/ PAN Card)
- Date of Birth Proof (Birth Certificate/ School Leaving Certificate/ 10th or HSC Mark Sheet)
- Address Proof (Aadhaar card/ Driving Licence/ Ration card/ Voter ID/ PAN Card)
- 2 passport size colour photos
- Note: Carry the original and attested copies of the above documents.

- Orthopedically handicapped person who cannot travel without an escort or assistance.
- Mentally retarded persons who need an escort.
- Completely blind persons traveling alone or with an escort.
- Totally deaf and mute person (with both afflictions together)

- Non-infectious leprosy patients

The card has a validity of five years or is valid till the last date of the concession certificate.

Need for the DocumentEdit
After booking a ticket under the disabled category, the disabled persons can carry the I-Card while travelling to show it for verification to the railway authority onboard.

Previously, disabled persons were required to provide the concession form along with all the relevant documents in person at the ticket counter. The Railways has now introduced the I-Card to provide hassle free service for the physically challenged.
