Apply In-Person

  1. A person desirous of making a complaint about water quality in Tamil Nadu must visit the concerned Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board office in the district. Click on the following link to find the address of each district link
  2. Write down the complaint in a detailed manner on white paper. Fill in your name, contact details, address and duration of issue.
  3. Attach documents or pictures of proof, if any.
  4. Duly sign the letter and submit it along with proof (if any) to the officer incharge in the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board office.
  5. No fee is required for this procedure.
  6. The time limit for each complaint varies according to the credibility and importance of the complaint.
  7. Any step taken towards the complaint will be notified via Email/SMS/Letter.


Apply Online (For Chennai Residents)

  1. A person desirous of making a complaint about water quality in Chennai (Tamil Nadu) must visit the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board website link
  2. On the homepage, click on the “Register Your Complaints” button.
  3. Then, click on the “Register Your Complaints – Register Via Internet” option on the next page.
  4. Fill in your name, contact details, ward number, address, and duration of the problem. Then, select the complaint type and click on the “Save” button.
  5. An e-receipt will be generated with the “Complaint Number.”
  6. Revisit the website to know your complaint status link.
  7. On the homepage, click on the “Register Your Complaints” button. Then, click on the “View Your Complaint Status” option on the next page.
  8. Enter your “Complaint Number” and click on the “Submit” button.
  9. Any step taken towards the complaint will be notified via Email/SMS/Letter.
