The relationship certificate is a legal document required to prove the relationship between parents and their children. This legal paper is required though the children to produce as a mandatory document to avail seats in educational institution and benefits as offered by the government.

Apply In-Person:

  1. In order to apply for “Relationship Certificate”, the applicant has to approach the nearest office of the Collector / Tahsildar / BDO / Circle officer of the revenue department as appropriate.

  3. Go to the respective office and consult with the designated authority about the applying procedure for this certificate. Collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
  4. Complete the application form. Write a covering letter mentioning the purpose for which the certificate is required. Attach the entire required documents as per our “Required Documents” section and submit it to the designated receiving authority.
  5. After receiving the application, authorities will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted. Please pay the fees/charges if applicable and don’t forget to take the receipt.
  6. Authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer.
  7. Acknowledgement receipt will be given against the accepted application form. Please collect it and keep it safe for future reference.
  8. Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the scheme.
  9. This application will be processed further. Concerned authorities will verify the applicant’s details and documents.
  10. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile.
  11. Once verified, this application will be forwarded to the concerned Village Administrative Officer – VAO / designated authority for ground level scrutiny.
  12. A report will be created after verification and the due diligence of the applicant through field verification.
  13. This report will be sent back to the issuing authority.
  14. Based on the outcome of the above report and other internal processing, the tahsildar / the designated issuing authority as per the administration zone will take a decision on issuance of this certificate.
  15. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
  16. If approved, the certificate will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per applicable norms.
Note:
  • In certain cases the applicant will be asked to get the relationship certificate from the government office (Defence / Railways) where applicant’s relative is an employee. In such situation applicant shall approach the respective government office to apply for
  • Applicant has to bring original documents to the applying office while applying for cross verification purpose and scanning if required.
  • Without cross signature on photograph and signature on undertaking, the application will be rejected
  • Applicant may be asked to apply with the specific format as advised by the respective benefit providing government departments. In that case, applicant shall use the format to apply.

  • Any wrongful identification and certification of beneficiaries shall attract severe disciplinary action against the concerned.
  • Do not submit fake documents as a proof to get this certificate.
  • Incomplete application will be rejected.
  • Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
  • Applicant will be penalized if any information provided by the applicant while applying for this certificate is being found false or incorrect.

  • In certain areas, the relationship certificate is required to establish the eligibility for the quota.
  • The relationship certificate is a mandatory document to apply for financial assistance for the marriage of daughters, granddaughters and dependent Sister of freedom fighters.
