Apply In-Person

  1. A person desirous of applying for Areas Extension of a Firearm license should visit the Commissioner of Police's office or Magistrate's office in their district. Contact link.
  2. The required application form can be obtained from the Commissioner’s office.
  3. The applicant has to fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
  4. Fill in your name, contact details, license details, and address.
  5. Complete the application form and submit it along with the required documents to the authority for approval.
  6. The required documents are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The state's licensing authority will approve the application if the application is eligible for extension.
  8. The fee to be paid differs for each weapon. Check the "Fees" section of this page for details.
  9. The processing time for the Area Extension of Firearms varies for each state.
  10. The extended license can be collected from the Commissioner of Police's office.


Apply Online:

  1. To Apply for Extend Area Validity of arms (Gun) License, the applicant has to visit the following link:Link
  2. Click on "Apply Here" and proceed.
  3. Now click on the "State Home Department/DM/SDM/Other/MHA" tab from the given options.
  4. A form will open up, the applicant shall provide the correct information with all the required details.
  5. Select "Category" as "Individual" or "Manufacturer" or "Dealer" and "Service" as "Application for Cancellation of License".
  6. On a newly opened page, enter the UIN number and Captcha code and click on "Get Detail" to proceed.
  7. Once the "License Specific Details" are displayed, make sure to include or exclude the required information up to date and click "Next"
  8. Now enter the "Endorsement Details" and proceed.
  9. The applicant shall follow the onscreen instructions to proceed further.
  10. Make sure to upload all the "Required Documents".
  11. Once the application is verified, pay the requisite "Fee".
  12. Download the license from the portal
  13. Collect it from the nearest police station by showing the online license.
  14. The stipulated time period for the process is 30 days.

If a person holding a firearm license changes their residence, permanently or temporarily or for any period of more than six months, this procedure is mandatory.
