- No individual can start or continue a business dealing drugs / cosmetics / medicine in India, unless an appropriate license is obtained from the designated authority.
- As different state has different parameters and regulations, as a first step applicant shall consult their local drug license authority to get advice on
- Any updated rules and regulations in issuance of license.
- Update on drugs that were included in the list for which license can’t be obtained.
- Fees payment type etc.
Apply through e-Sevai Centres
- Use the following link to locate your nearest e-sevai centre. Link: E-sevai please use the “E-service centers near you.” and follow the screen prompt for details.
- Please go to the e-sevai centre.
- Application form shall be obtained from the centre (if required please pay for the form).
- Please fill in the form and attach all the required documents and submit it to the e-sevai operator.
- Operator will check the details and feed them through the computer online.
- On successful submission an acknowledgement will be provided to the applicant please keep it safe for future reference.
- The service charge has to be paid.
- This submitted application will be processed further.
- Applicant gets notification about the process updates.
- Drug inspector will inspect the premises for verifying the correctness.
- After the inspection is over, Competent person will be asked to report for interview.
- Once all the above process are over appropriate authority will issue drug license.
- Applicant will receive a message on the registered mobile number to get his sanctioned license.
- Applicant shall download the license as appropriate.
- Note:
- Fee payment for the license is accepted in different formats like challan/cheque as applicable. Applicants are advised to take the consultation with the respective drug license authority for your area to prepare fees requirement.
Apply In Person:
- To Apply for Drug License (Retail and Wholesale - Pharmacy), the applicant has to visit the Office of the Director of Drugs Control in Tamil Nadu. Find contacts:Link
- Procure the application form from the office or download it from here:Link
- Fill up the form correctly with all the necessary information
- Provide photograph and signature wherever required
- Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents".
- Now submit the same to the concern authority along with the requisite "Fees".
- The authority will inspect and verify the location and documents of the applicant
- On successful verification, the license will be issued.
- The applicant will be notified by the concerned authority.
- Collect the license from the office of the drugs control department.

- Cancelled cheque (for bank account detail requirement)

- ID and address proof of director

- Sale deed document of the premises
- If rented, registered rent agreement
- NOC from the owner
- Architect attested Key plan and site plan
- Fees paid details
