Procedure

1. To obtain a Taxi Driver ID, you will need to submit an application to the Swedish Transport Agency.
2. A link is provided under "Documents to Use" section which you can use to download the application form.
3. You may send the completed application in person, by post or online:

   2. By email: Simply click the "Send form by e-mail" button. Using the send form by e-mail square your form becomes a document and you can attach annexes.
4. The Swedish Transport Agency keeps a register of all holders of taxi driver ID on the road traffic register. The Swedish Transport Agency is also responsible for supervision with the assistance of the Police authorities for the most part.

Required Documents

• Completed application
• Certified copy of valid passport,
• Certified copy of evidence of formal qualifications or attestation of competence,
• Certified copy of the certificate of professional experience as a taxi driver, where appropriate.
• Certified copy of a certificate from the competent authority showing that the applicant with regard to their personal circumstances can be considered suitable for the profession, for example, Police records.
• Information of the competent driving license authority showing the applicant's driving license, how long the applicant has held a driving license with category B, its duration and if the driving license has been subject to any intervention. Reporting of any driving license interventions are to be made for the previous ten years, or for driving the holding's length, if it is less than ten years.
• Medical certificate for taxi licenses. If the applicant has diabetes there must be a further specialist medical assessment of the disease, certain other diseases are also accompanied by medical certificate from a specialist.

Eligibility

To be granted a taxi driver ID, you must meet the following requirements:

• Be aged 21 or over.
• Be a holder of a driving licence, category B for at least 2 years or be a holder of a driving licence, category D.
• Meet the medical requirements necessary, taking into account the safety of passengers and other road users.
• Be deemed to be suitable to work as a taxi driver with regard to professional skills and respect for the law.
• Have passed a driving test for the awarding of taxi driver ID.

Note: The professional skills test is in Swedish.

From April 15, 2016, it is possible for you who work as a taxi driver in an EEA-state or Switzerland, to come to Sweden to take up employment, temporarily or permanently.

Other uses of the Document/Certificate

The professional role of the taxi driver is to operate a vehicle engaged in taxi and private hire services. Taxi driver ID is required to be allowed to do this. Holders of taxi driver ID can also provide mobility services, school transport, contract transport, etc.
