A birth certificate is often needed to be stamped if it is going to be shown to a foreign authority in another country or a foreign embassy in Sweden. It need not be stamped if you are going to show it to a Swedish embassy or a Swedish consulate abroad. Contact the foreign authority to find out what information the population registration certificate has to contain and if it needs a stamp and a signature. Ask if the foreign authority wants the certificate in English or in Swedish.

International birth certificates are not issued in Sweden, as is done in some countries. The document that corresponds to the birth certificate is the population registration certificate Extract of the population register.
