ProcedureEdit

1.The applicant should start by identifying the nearest registration center and finding out the procedure and requirements for obtaining a voters card. The registration centres are usually the polling centres during election and these are usually communicated to the public by the Stale High Committees, in collaboration with the Returning Officer and the Geographical Constituency Officers;

2.Thereafter prepare all the required documents and go to the identified registration centre and obtain a registration form;

3.The applicant then fills the obtained application form and submits it together with the required documents to the registration officers at the registration centre;

4.When the documents are received, they are examined and assessed by the registration officer. This is done to ensure that the applicant is eligible to be registered and at this stage, the registration staff is argued to be very careful and are called upon to act as identifies if they reside in a given constituency;

5.When an applicant is approved, he / she is registered and issued with a registration receipt which should be kept safe;

6.After the registration process, the Electoral commission organizes a register of all registered voters and is displayed in different places (usually registration centres) for a given period of time. This is done to allow the public to confirm if the recorded information is right and during this period, anyone who may oppose registration of a particular person is expected to submit objection;

7.In cases where changes are submitted, the registry shall include then in register and thereafter a final register is produced.

1.An applicant must be of a sound mind this is mentally fit;

2.Applicants must register in only one (1) registration centre;

3.Applying for registration should be in person;

4.An individual can not represent another in the registration process;

5.Applicants must know that registration may be opposed during the period when the register is published;

6.During the time of election, a voter can only voter from where he / she was registered;

7.Final decision on registration is made by the head of a registration centre tea;

8.If application is not approved, an applicant has the right to submit a complaint;

9.Applicants are argued to chose the most appropriate registration centre nearest to them;

10.An applicant must have resided in the constituency he / she wishes to register for at least three (3) months before the registration;

11.Applicants must know that voter registration is mandatory for those who would wish to participate in elections in future;

Need for the DocumentEdit

A voters card in Sudan is issued to nationals of the country to enable them exercise their rights to vote. Issuance of voters cards in Sudan is by National Elections Commission and in order for a person to obtain a voters card a person must be registered with the commission.

1.In the period of registration, applicants must know that some registration teams are fixed in locations whereas others teams move around several locations. These locations for the mobile and non mobile tees are always communicated to the public. Locations for the mobile teams are always communicated with dates and period of stay in a given registration centre;

2.An applicant may also go along with witnesses for registrations but the witnesses should be persons described by the election law;
