Procedure

1.The applicant starts by visiting the issuing authority the Department of Passports, Immigration, Nationality and National ID Cards under the Ministry of Interior to find out what is required to obtain the National Identification Document;

2.After, the applicant obtains an application form from the authority, he / she fills the form carefully and accurately and thereafter he / she submits the filled application form together with all the documents required to the issuing official at the authority;

3.When documents are received, the issuing official at the issuing authority goes through the submitted application to see if the submitted documents are true copies and that the filled information is true.

4.When documents are verified, the applicants photograph and fingerprints are taken;

5.Afterwards the applicant is advised on when to collect the card. On the date of collecting card, the applicant is expected to appear in person to collect card as cards cannot be given to a third party and cannot be mailed to applicants;

1.Applicants are argued to seek assistance if they do not understand or cant fill the questions on application form;

2.An applicant must have national number in order to be able to apply for a national identification document;

3.Applying and collecting card should be made in person;

4.School children can also apply for a national Identity card in Sudan;

5.Applicants must be in the country at the time of submitting application;

6.A National Identification Card can only be obtained in the country from the authorized authority;

7.Embassies are not authorized to issue national identity cards;
