Sudan - Apply for National Social Security Fund

1.Applications for National Social Security Fund are made to the National Social Insurance Fund under the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security. An applicant should start by finding out the requirements and procedure for applying; this information may be obtained by visiting either the offices of the National Social Insurance Fund or the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security;
2.When the above information is obtained, the applicant goes ahead to prepare all the required documents and submits tem together with application to the National Social Insurance Fund for registration under its schemes;
3.When documents are received, they shall be viewed by the authority (National Social Insurance Fund) and if approved, the applicant is registered;

- It is a necessity for employers to insure against liability with private insurance companies;
- An applicant must know the percentage he / she is supposed to contribute if registered under a desired scheme;
- Applicants for benefits from the National Social Security funds must be made considering the following eligibility requirements that vary basing on the form of scheme in application is submitted:-
- Old-age (retirement) pension Scheme: An applicant must be sixty (60) years and above and has retired from work;
- Early Pension scheme: The applicant must be fifty (50) years and above;
- Old-age settlement: The applicant must be at least sixty (60) years, insured, who has contributed for less than twenty (20) years but resigns or is laid off from work;
- Disability pension scheme: A person below sixty (60) years of age who has been working but in the course of doing so, he / she attains a permanent disability;
- Survivor pension scheme: This must be a surviving relative of a deceased person who was entitled to receiving old-age or disability pension.
- Death grant scheme: Applicant must be a surviving relative of a deceased person who was insured or entitle to pension;
- Employers who work under harsh conditions have an advantage of retirement age been reduced;
- Applicants for benefits under the old age pension, early pension and old age settlement must have contributed for a period of not less than twenty (20) years;
- Applicants for old age settlement and retirement pension benefits should do not be employed at the time of applying for the fund;
- The only person eligible to apply for benefits under the survivor pension and death grant schemes are widow / dependent widower of the deceased and / or and children;
- The children eligible to apply for benefits in the survivor pension scheme must be below eighteen (18) years;
- Children above eighteen (18) but below twenty six (26) years can only qualify if they are still students, unmarried (girls) and if disabled;
- In cases where a deceased entitle to pension / death grant has no widow or children, dependent brothers, sisters, and parents can apply for the benefits;

The Sudan Social Security Fund has a number of schemes includes Pension (Old age pension, Early pension, Disability pension and Survivor pension) Old age settlement and Death grant. The National Social Security Fund program in Sudan is administered by National Social Insurance Fund under the supervision of the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security.
