Procedure

1. Obtain an application form (DOP AG2) from the Divisional Secretarial Office. You will need to provided the number and the description of the gun for which the license is desired. Viz. type, makers name and the number on the barrel.
2. Complete the form. You will need to state the reason why you need a gun permit/license and you must be able to justify your reason by presenting documentary proof .
3. Hand in the completed form over to the Divisional Secretarial Office. The Divisional Secretarial Officers will inform the respective police station and the Grama Niladari in your locality.
4. The Grama Niladhari and the Police Officer will pay you a visit to identify, evaluate your need for a permit.
5. A permit will only be issued once both the Grama Niladari and the Police Officers are satisfied with their findings.

Eligibility

• Citizen of Sri Lanka
• Must have a valid reason and able to justify their need to obtain a Gun Permit

• old people
• those who are medically unfit
• minors
