Procedure

• During lockdown, Applications are welcome through the email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.

Apply through email

1. To apply for Validating Foreign Glider Pilot License through email, the applicant has to lodge the applications through email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.

3. Download the Application for Validation Of Foreign Glider Pilot Licence by clicking the following link: Link
4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
6. Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
7. After paying the fees, make scanned copies of the required documents and the completed application form. Proceed to submit it through the following email address: [email protected]
8. Indicate the license number of the particular category that you are applying as the subject of the mail.
9. Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.
10. Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the validation certificate will be processed for issuance.
11. When the validation certificate is ready to be collected, the applicant will be sent an SMS from the office and the applicant can collect the license by themselves or arrange a courier service for collection.

Eligibility

• Any person, who has obtained a foreign glider pilot license and wants to make use of the privileges of such license as a South African Pilot In Command, can apply for a validation.
• The applying entity must comply with all the requirements of license under the respective category as prescribed in the application form.

Fees

• The cost for Application for Validation of Foreign Glider Pilot Licence is R 520.00.
  

Validity

• The validation certificate may be valid for a maximum period of six months from issued date or it may be synchronised with the license under the respective category.

• Applications for Validation shall not be considered if the applicant has been refused a South African pilot license or validation before or had a South African pilot license or validation revoked in the past.
