Apply Online
- To apply for Re-Issue or Duplicate of a Matric Certificate, the applicant can make the application online via the following link
- To start the application the applicant has to “Click Education” menu and click “Basic Education” and select “Re-issue” from the drop-down menu.
- The applicant has to enter their email and password to login. If the applicant is a new user the applicant has to click “Register” and enter their particulars and register an account.
- After logging in the applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
- Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Review the application and click “Submit”.
- The fee details are mentioned in “Fees” section of this page.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
- It takes 30-45 days for a certificate to be issued. Applicants may use the reference number received during the online application process to keep track of their application.

- To Re-Issue or Duplicate of a Matric Certificate, the applicant has to approach the South African Department of Basic Education link
- The applicant has to download the application form from the following link
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority. The fee details are mentioned in “Fees” section of this page.
- Mail the completed application to Chief Directorate: National Assessment and Public Examinations. The mailing address are mentioned in “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
- The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
- This entire process can be completed within 30 – 45 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Completed Application form link For lost or damaged certificates:
- An affidavit stating what happened to the applicant’s certificate (i.e. if it is lost or damaged);
- The original national/ senior certificate (if it is damaged), this is not applicable if it is lost;
- A certified copy of the applicant’s identity document (ID); and
- Proof of payment.
For combination of results:
- The applicant’s results from all examination sittings;
- A certified copy of the applicant’s Identity Document; and
- Proof of payment.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A matric certificate, also known as a secondary school document, is a certificate of evidence given to pupils who have successfully completed their class 10th grade.
- If you have lost or damaged the applicant’s original matric certificate, or the applicant wrote matric in more than one examination sitting and the applicant wants to combine the applicant’s credits to qualify for a National Certificate, i.e. Senior Certificate (SC) or National Senior Certificate (NSC), the applicant may apply for re issue or duplicate certificate.
