Apply Online - How To Register as a Professional Natural Scientist Online with Images

  1. To apply for registering as a Professional Natural Scientist online, the applicant has to visit the following link to register: Link
  2. Enter all the details asked in the “Register” page and click on “Create profile” button. You will receive an email in the ID that you provided in the registration page with a verification link and a reference number.
  3. Note down the reference number using which you should login into the portal. Click “Click here to validate your email address” button in your received email to validate your email address and activate your account.
  4. Once you click on the verification link and activate your profile, you will be redirected to the login page. Enter your reference number and password, click on “Login” button.
  5. In the Step 1, click “Download Template” button to download the eligibility criteria template which should be filled with the applicant’s academic qualification details and credits scored. After filling accordingly, upload the excel sheet in the portal by clicking on “Upload file” button.
  6. Select your field of practice as applicable, category as “Professional Natural Scientist” and select the option “Yes” if you wish to apply via the Recognition of Prior Learning route or option “No” if you do not wish to apply via the Recognition of Prior Learning route.
  7. If you wish to apply via the Recognition of Prior Learning route, you will have to download the RPL Affidavit Template by clicking “Download Template” button and complete it accordingly. After completing click “Upload file” button to upload.
  8. You can add a new field of practice by clicking “Add a New field of Practice” button. After adding fields of practices, click “Save all” button.
  9. In step 2, particulars like Personal Details, Qualifications, and Employment History by uploading documents wherever necessary. Then answer the “Yes/no” question under Referees section and add the required details of referee (if necessary).
  10. Upload the supporting documents in the Supporting Documentation section by clicking “Upload file” button. Before uploading Work experience document, click “Download Guidelines” button and read the guidelines carefully. After uploading, click “Save All” button.
  11. Step 3 is payment for your application, click “Generate Pro forma Invoice” button to download your payment invoice. Click “Proceed to PAYFAST” button to pay your application fees.
  12. After paying the appropriate application fees, your application is submitted at the council and will be taken to necessary evaluation process in the council.
  13. If your application for Registration is successful, you will then be able to login to the portal and accept the SACNASP code of conduct for registered scientists, at which time a link will become available to you to download your registration certificate.
  14. Your certificate can be downloaded from the portal at any time and serves as proof of your registration.

EligibilityEdit

  • An applicant who holds a recognised four year Bachelor of Science degree, Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Science, or Postgraduate Diploma or Equivalent Qualification at NQF level 8 and Three years appropriate work experience (in the field of practice applied for) is eligible to apply.
  • An applicant who holds recognised degree in Masters of Science, Master of Technology, Master of Agricultural Science, Master of Applied Sciences or Equivalent Qualification at NQF level 9 and Two years of appropriate work experience (in the field of practice applied for) can also apply.
  • Also an applicant who holds a recognised Doctoral Qualification at NQF Level 10 and One year of appropriate work experience (in the field of practice applied for) is eligible to apply.

InstructionsEdit

  • Once you apply for registration your application goes through a rigorous process of verification and evaluation. It is very important that you supply all the required documents correctly and in a clearly legible format as missing, incorrect or incomplete documents will delay the evaluation of your application.
  • During the application process, you will be required to upload the following documents as PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, text or image files. Each document should be in its own separate file. Please ensure you have them ready before you start the process.
  • Please open and look carefully at each file to ensure all the text is clearly legible on scanned documents before uploading it. Uploading incorrect or unclear documentation will result in delays to the evaluation of your application so it is in your best interest to upload clear and correct documents from the get go.
  • In case of Recognition of Prior Learning, an affidavit should be completed and get certified from the Commissioner of Oaths, which must be uploaded at the time of application.
