Apply In-Person:

  1. To cancel a Television license in person, the applicant must visit any nearest South African Broadcasting Corporation Office or a nearest authorised retailer which under the South African Broadcasting Corporation in his/her province.
  2. The contacts and address information of the South African Broadcasting Corporation can be found in the following link: Link
  3. Contact the SABC and collect details about the details about the office of any authorised retailer where you can cancel your TV license and also enquire the requirements.
  4. Visit the office as instructed by the SABC or any nearest Post Office and obtain the form or affidavit for cancelling the Television License.
  5. Make sure that you have all the required documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page. Attach them with the completed affidavit.
  6. Complete the cancellation affidavit as required with necessary information and attach the documents required.
  7. After paying the required fees, submit it to the concerned official at the Office for further verification and application processing.
  8. After all the processes are completed, the television license which you seek cancellation for, will be deactivated appropriately.

EligibilityEdit

  • When you have sold, disposed of or lost your television set(s) you are no longer required to have a TV licence and you can request to cancel it.
  • For cancelling, the applicant must have a registered license for his/her television.

  • You can also cancel your Television license by making a relevant statement at any Commissioner of Oaths.
  • After obtaining the affidavits from the SABC office, you can also complete the Pro forma Affidavits and send it to the email [email protected] for cancelling your television license.
  • After cancelation, inspectors will visit to verify whether you have really removed your television. If they found that you hold any unauthorized television in your premises, you will have to face legal consequences.
