Apply In-person
- To apply for getting an import permit for goods for Personal use in person, the applicant has to visit the Import and Export Control department in the office of International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC).
- Find the address and contact details of the Import and Export Control department in the office of ITAC in the following link: Link
- Visit the office of ITAC and obtain the application form for getting an Import Permit for goods for personal use, from the Import and Export Control department. Or click here to download: Link
- Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Complete the form as required with relevant details under respective sections. After completing the application form, attach the required documents with the completed form.
- Then, proceed to submit the package to the relevant authority at the office in person for further processes. Make the necessary payment as directed (if any).
- After submission, the completed form and corresponding documents will be put into further verification and validation processes.
- Once all the processes got completed, the authorities will make necessary amendments for the permit issuance process.

EligibilityEdit
- Any person living in South Africa, who wants to bring controlled or used and second-hand personal or individual goods into South Africa, can apply to get an Import permit to the ITAC.
- The goods that are intended to be imported should be in the list of goods that are subject to import and export control measures by the ITAC.
- The person applying must have already registered with the South African Revenue Services as an Importer.
FeesEdit
ITAC does not charge any service fees but you will have to pay customs duty to SARS.

- If you need policy information on the importation of specific goods, provide the particulars of goods to be imported to ITAC’s import and export control office.

- If you want to import controlled or used and second-hand personal or individual goods into South Africa you need permission from the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC).
