South Africa - Enroll in Critical Infrastructure Programme (CIP)

Apply In-Person:
- To apply for enrolling in Critical Infrastructure Programme in person, the person has to visit the office of Department of Trade, Industry and Corporation.
- The address and contact details of the DTIC can be found in the following link: Link to the bottom of the page.
- Visit the office of DTIC and get the application form for enrolling in Critical Infrastructure Programme from the relevant department. Or click here to download: Link
- Complete the form as required with relevant details. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- After completing the application form, take a printout of the form and attach all the documents required for the process with the completed form.
- Then, proceed to submit the package to the relevant authority at the office for further processes. Make the payment as necessary.
- After all the processes have got completed, the concerned authorities will proceed to make the arrangements for the enrolment process.
- The applicant can obtain any information regarding the progress of his/her request, from the office where the application has been made.

- Environmental Permits for both Investment and Infrastructure w.r.t zoning certificates of the area earmarked for investment project

EligibilityEdit
- The applicant or the project must be a registered legal entity in South Africa.
- The project must be at least a level four Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) contributor in terms of the Codes of Good Practice for B-BBEE.

InstructionsEdit
- For foreign direct investment (i.e. foreign investors incorporated in South Africa), where it can be proven that such a foreign investor does not enter into any partnership arrangements in foreign countries, the Codes of Good Practice make a provision for the recognition of contributions in lieu of a direct sale of equity.
- For all projects, a grace period of 15 months after date of submission of the application is given for them to comply. In all cases, a B-BBEE certificate should be submitted at claim stage.

Need for the DocumentEdit
The Critical Infrastructure Programme (CIP) is a cost sharing grant for projects designed to improve critical infrastructure in South Africa. The grant covers qualifying development costs from a minimum of 10% to a maximum of 30% towards the total development costs of qualifying infrastructure.
