Procedure

Apply by email

1. To Apply for RVSM Approval, the applicant has to approach the CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned office email ID [email protected]
7. There is no fee for RVSM Approval.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. Further process of verification will be done by the officer.
10. Once the application has been approved, the applicant will get the approval letter from the office.
11. This entire process can be completed within 2- 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• A letter of authorization or certificate from the aircraft manufacturer
• A copy of the aircraft's flight manual or RVSM procedures manual that describes the procedures and limitations for RVSM operations.
• A copy of the operator's RVSM program, which should outline the procedures and training programs in place to ensure compliance with RVSM requirements.
• A copy of the operator's air operator certificate or operating certificate.
• A current weight and balance report for the aircraft.
• A copy of the operator's approved minimum equipment list (MEL) that includes any RVSM-specific equipment requirements.

Eligibility

• The operator must hold a valid air operator certificate (AOC) or operating certificate issued by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
• The operator must have an approved RVSM program that meets the requirements set out in SACAA regulations.
• The operator's aircraft must be equipped and certified for RVSM operations and must meet the applicable RVSM standards and requirements.
• The operator must have appropriate training and procedures in place to ensure that flight crews are adequately trained and competent to operate the aircraft in RVSM airspace.
• The operator must have appropriate maintenance and quality assurance programs in place to ensure that the aircraft's RVSM equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
• The operator must comply with all other applicable regulations and requirements for RVSM operations, including airspace and communication requirements.

Fees

• There is no fee for RVSM Approval.
