Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for a Certificate to remove Imported Liquor in person, the applicant has to visit the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Extended Detention Division at the port of entry.
  2. The contact and location details of the office can be found in the link below: Link
  3. Visit the DAFF Extended Detention Division and obtain an Application for a certificate of removal form at the port of entry.
  4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
  5. Complete the form as required with relevant details under respective sections. After completing the application form, attach the required documents with the completed form.
  6. Then, proceed to submit it to the relevant authority at the office in person for further processes. Make the necessary payment as directed.
  7. After submission, the completed form and corresponding documents will be put into further verification and validation processes.
  8. If your application is successful your liquor products will be delivered to a bonded agriculture warehouse in a container.
  9. Go to that warehouse to give the inspector your removal certificate and unpack the liquor from the container.

  • The person applying should have already applied and obtained an import certificate for the liquor in a proper manner.

  • a 750 millilitre sample which the inspector will draw from the delivered product
  • Import certificate.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • If you want to remove your imported liquor from the port of entry you must apply for a certificate from the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Extended Detention Division at the port of entry so that it can be moved to where you want to sell it in South Africa.
  • You will not be able to move your liquor from the port of entry to a place of sale in South Africa without the certificate to remove liquor.
