Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for a Certificate of Acceptability for Foods, the applicant has to approach the Environment Health Office link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned office. Or it can be downloaded from the following link
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed amount of fee as per the authority’s request.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS.
- The officer will come for site- inspection to check quality of food.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant has to visit the office for collecting the certificate.
- This entire process can be completed within 4- 5 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

- It is a food handling business permit that confirms the food handling organisation is conforming to the basic food safety and hygiene requirements.
- A Certificate of Acceptability, popularly known as a COA or a food business permit, is a compliance certificate issued as per the requirements set out in regulation.

Rules:
- Display the applicant COA somewhere conspicuous, if practical.
- If not possible, keep a copy on hand.
- If the Person-in-Charge of a facility changes, the applicant must inform the local authority within 30 days to issue a new COA.
- The COA applies to a specific food premise, and if the applicant moves his/her food premises, the applicant will need to apply for another COA.
- A customer has a right to request to see the certificate of acceptability.
- A certificate of acceptability applies to mobile and immobile food premises.
