Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To Apply for Cabin Designated Examiner Status, the applicant has to approach the CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY link
2. The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) requires that all CDE applicants complete a training course that covers the relevant regulations, policies, procedures, and standards for cabin crew training and examination.
3. This course is typically provided by a SACAA-approved training organization.
4. Once the applicant has completed the training course, the applicant must pass a CDE evaluation that is conducted by the SACAA.
5. This evaluation will assess the knowledge and skills related to cabin crew training and examination, and will typically involve a written exam and a practical assessment.
6. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
7. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
8. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
9. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
10. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
11. The applicant has to pay the fee prescribed by the officer.
12. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
13. Further process of verification will be done by the officer.
14. Once the application has been approved, the officer will be issued a CDE certificate, which will allow his/her to conduct cabin crew training and examination as an authorized examiner.
15. This entire process can be completed within 5 - 6 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
