Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To Apply for an Appointment as Radiotelephony Examiner, the applicant has to approach the CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY link
2. The applicant must have completed an RTE training course conducted by a SACAA-approved aviation training organization (ATO).
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
8. The applicant has to pay the fee prescribed by the officer.
9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
10. Further process of verification will be done by the officer.
11. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
12. Also, the applicant may conduct an assessment or examination.
13. After completing the process, the applicant gets anAppointment as Radiotelephony Examiner.
14. This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• A certified copy of valid FRTOL and pilot's license
• A certified copy of the ID document or passport
• Proof of completion of the RTE training course, such as a certificate or record of completion from the ATO where you completed the course
• A letter of recommendation from an aviation training organization or a licensed pilot who can attest to the knowledge and experience in radiotelephony communication

Eligibility

• A person should have a valid Flight Radio Telephony Operator's License (FRTOL) and a valid pilot's license issued by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) eligible to make this application.

• The applicant has to pay the fee prescribed by the officer.
