Apply In Person

1. To Apply for Aircraft Examination, the applicant has to approach the CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY link
2. The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) maintains a list of approved aviation training organizations that are authorized to conduct aircraft examinations.
3. The applicant has to contact the office for training details and the examination schedule process.
4. The applicant will need to complete the necessary training to prepare for the exam. The specific training requirements will depend on the type of examination that the applicantis taking.
5. Once the applicant has completed the necessary training, the applicant can schedule the examination with the ATO.
6. The applicant will need to provide them with their details, the type of examination they are taking, and the date and time that they would like to take the exam.
7. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. (if required)
8. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
9. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
10. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
11. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
12. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
13. On the day of the examination, the applicant will need to arrive at the testing location at the scheduled time. The examination will typically be a combination of written and practical testing.
14. Once the applicant passed the exam, the applicant can get the certificate from the office.
15. This entire process can be completed within 3- 4 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• Any 18 years of age and above a person who completed the aircraft training is eligible to apply for this procedure.

• The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
