Procedure

1. Applicants will need to complete a medical exam that will determine if they are fit enough to carry a firearm.
2. Applicants will also need to pass a theoretical and practical test involving firearm management.
3. Both tests are paid for by the applicant.
4. There are different categories of weapons. Check the link for the complete list - Link. Knowing in which category is your firearm included will give you a more detailed idea on how you should apply for a permit and how your firearm should be kept.

Eligibility

The firearms licence for civilian firearms is issued to applicants who meet the following conditions:

• reached the age of 18 years;
• no impediments to public order;
• reliable (the owner will not abuse the firearms, use and store it carelessly and unprofessionally, or leave it to a person who is not entitled to the possession of firearms);
• passed a medical examination;
• passed an examination on the management of firearms (before the commission appointed by the minister responsible for internal affairs).

Note: Firearms licences will not be issued to individuals who have exercised their right to conscientious objection to military service.

Fees

Validity

Firearms licences are issued with different periods of validity:

• for hunting and sporting firearms 12 years;
• for security firearms 10 years;

After your licence has expired you may still keep your firearms (gun), but you are not allowed to wear or carry it with you outside.
