Procedure

The Slovak passport is valid for ascertain period of time and will to be renewed at the end of this period, the validity is categorised and issued in deferent age groups as shown the validity section below.

You can renew your passport in Slovakia or abroad.

Application in Slovakia

1. Apply in person at the District Police Headquarters of your of permanent or temporary residence.
2. Visit office with working days to submit your application
3. Submit our documents to the staff at the document department for verification
4. The staff will look at the face and the signature in the electronic from to ascertain if the provided information is correct.
5. After verifying all the documents you will pay the administrative fee for you application.
6. Your renewal will be processed and when the document is ready it will be issued out to you.

Validity

• A passport is issued to a citizen after the age of 16 with a validity of 10 years, a citizen under the age of 16 is issued with a validity of 5 years and a citizen under 6 is issued with a validity of 2 years.
• A 1-year passport is issued to a citizen who is temporarily unable to take fingerprints.
• If a citizen holds a valid passport for 10 years and asks for a second passport and then holds two valid passports, the other passport is issued for a period of 5 years.

• Nationality; It does not apply to an alien travel document
