Apply In Person

  1. To become an Licensed Tourist Guide the applicant has to approach Singapore Tourism Board contact link
  2. Any person wanting to be a licensed Tourist Guide has to undergo the Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Tourist Guide (TG) Course provided by Skills Future Singapore (SSG)​ approved training providers and pass all the relevant assessments before they could be issued with a Tourist Guide licence.
  3. To applicant has to register for the WSQ TG Course any one of the given training centres.

    • Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS)
    • William Angliss Institute Pte Ltd (WAI)
  4. Contact link of the training centres was given in the “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page.
  5. The applicant needs to take lessons from any one of the training centres.
  6. After completion of courses the applicant needs to undergo qualification test. After successful completion of test the Singapore Tourism Board issues the license for tourist guide.
  7. The license fee of S$72 has to be paid to Singapore Tourist Board.

EligibilityEdit

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Possess GCE O Level Certificate with grades B4 in English or C6 in Chinese, or have obtained the WSQ ESS Workplace Literacy & Numeracy Level 6.
  • Medically fit.
  • Highly proficient in the language you wish to conduct your tours.



FeesEdit

  • The theory examination fee is $53.50 and the practical examination fee is $246.10 (including 7% GST)
  • The fee payable for each licence is S$72.



ValidityEdit

  • The licence is valid for 3 years.
  • Licence is renewable at the end of 3 years upon fulfilment of the required licence renewal conditions.
  • The license permits you to work for any licensed travel agent or on a freelance basis.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Holders of General Tourist Guide (GTG) licence are legally allowed to conduct tours in Singapore. To qualify for the license, applicants must fulfil the minimum age and educational requirements, completed theory and practical trainings, and passed the two examinations given by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

Schedule of Exams:

  • Theory examinations are conducted in electronic testing mode and will be held once a month. The practical examinations are usually scheduled every March/April, July/August and November/December.
  • Singapore Tourism Board may change the dates for these practical examinations. Up-to date information on practical examination dates will be published on their website.
