Procedure

Step :1

1. The applicant has to get the death certificate; the funeral usually takes place after the death is registered.
2. Most people engage a funeral director to help with funeral arrangements, though the applicant can arrange a funeral yourself.
3. The applicant need to decide:
   • Which funeral director or service to engage
   • The location of the funeral wake
   • The duration of the funeral wake
   • Whether to arrange for a burial or cremation

Step :2 - Find a funeral director

1. The applicant has to use the given link to find the funeral director Link
2. The funeral director can help:
   • Collect the body from the home, hospital or mortuary
   • Send the body for embalming (if required)
   • Arrange the funeral wake
   • Plan for the cremation, burial or sea burial

Step :3 - Duration of the funeral

1. If the duration of the funeral wake is more than 7 days after death, the applicant must to get prior written permission from the National Environment Agency (NEA) Link
2. Applicant has to write the request letter in the A4 sheet and submit to the respective officer in the National Environment Agency.
3. Make sure that you have attached all the needed documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. Submit the detailed letter and required documents to the relevant officer for permission.

Step :4 – location of the funeral

1. The funeral wake can be held at a HDB void deck, on a public road outside your house, or in a funeral parlour. Depending on the location where the applicant chooses, the procedure for booking a place may vary.
2. The applicant has to book for the location of the funeral.
3. Fee for this booking has to paid as per the authority request.

Step:5 - HDB void deck

1. To get HDB void deck for the funeral, the applicant has to get the booking dates from the Town Council Link
2. To apply this, the applicant has to be eligible is given in the “Eligibility” section of this page.
3. Fee for this procedure has to paid as per the authority request.
4. To get the permit the applicant has to bring the required documents.
5. The process will get over in a day.
