- Complete the application form (GPMB1). Follow link where you can view and download the form: http://www.ecitizen.gov.sg/Topics/Pages/Maternity-Benefit-How-to-apply.aspx
- State all the beginning and end dates of your employment contract(s) or trade/business periods in the last 12 months preceding the date of birth of your child.
- Submit the application form along with all the required documents to the Central Provident Fund Board (CPF Board) within 15 months from the childs birth.
Note:
- Claims for GPMB can only be made in person to the CPF Board beginning May 1, 2013; and online via the CPF website starting September 1, 2013.
- Late claims will not be entertained.
- The amount of maternity benefit you will receive is based on your gross rate of pay in the 12 months preceding the birth of your child (computed by dividing the total monthly gross rate of pay in the 12 months over 365 days).
Required DocumentsEdit
- A direct credit authorization form with the banks endorsement, if you do not have a standing payment instruction with the CPF Board.
- Copy of employment contracts
- Copy of your payslips or latest notice of assessment from Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS)
- Copy of the birth certificate of the child
- Copy of marriage certificate

EligibilityEdit
- Your child is born on or after January 1, 2013
- Your child is a Singapore Citizen
- You are/were lawfully married to your childs father at the point of conception or birth; OR within 12 months of the delivery date
- You have been in employment or engaged in a particular business, trade or profession (for self-employed) for a total of at least 90 days (can be discontinuous) in the 12 calendar months preceding the date of birth of the child
- You do not qualify for GPML with your current employer
Note:
If you qualify for GPML under your current employment, you will not be eligible for GPMB. Your current employer will be obliged under the law to grant you maternity leave benefits up to 16 weeks if you are eligible.

Need for the DocumentEdit
Working mothers who are not eligible for paid maternity leave may, beginning the 1st of May 2013, apply to receive the Government-paid maternity benefit (GPMB), as long as they have been in employment for a total of at least 90 days in the 12 months preceding the birth of their child.
GPMB grants the mother a benefit based on the government-paid portion of the maternity leave (GPML), which is equivalent to 8 weeks for the 1st and 2nd confinement, and 16 weeks for the 3rd and each subsequent confinement.
The amount of GPMB paid by the Government will be capped at $10,000 per 4 weeks up to a total of $40,000 in total for 16 weeks based on the mother's average gross rate of pay over the last 12 months before her child is born.
The amount will be paid to the mother in cash. She will need to provide a bank account to receive the payment.
The benefit is also applies to stillbirth cases or for those situation where the infant passes away shortly after birth.
