Procedure

Step: 1 – To complete form.

1. To Apply for Food Cafe License, the applicant has to approach the Singapore Food Agency link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the authorized officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form (Incomplete application forms are not accepted)
4. Make sure the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
5. The applicant should attach the photocopies of the required documents while submitting.
6. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority request.
7. Applicant can submit the application form and the documents to the respective office or for faster processing upload in the following link.
8. The processing time takes up to 5 days.
   

Step: 2 -  Book pre-licensing inspection upon completion of renovation

1. Make an appointment for inspection 7 days in advance via SFA's in the following online link
2. To avoid delays, applicants should ensure that all the items listed in the IPA have been complied with.
3. After the process, the officer will inform within 2 workings days to confirm inspection date.

Step: 3 - Make payment after licence approval

1. Upon full compliance to licensing requirements and submission of required documents, SFA will approve the application.
2. The applicant will receive a notification via email and GoBusiness within 3 working days.
   • For applicants with existing GIRO arrangement with SFA, they may start business after receiving SFA's email approval.
   • For applicants not on GIRO, the applicant may start their business after they have made payment via AXS or GoBusiness.
3. Licensees can print their own licences upon successful payment.

Need for the Document

In order to serve food in a café need a food shop license which is generally issued by the food agency department. The health department will visit that establishment in-person to ensure that they are adhering to all restaurant food safety regulations.
