Singapore - Apply for Extension of Passport (11-17 year old)

A passport is a travel document issued to Singapore citizens. It is required for travelling abroad. There is no method to extend the passport. So, this procedure explains about applying for a new passport.
Apply In-Person through post or deposit box
- Applicants can submit the application in the deposit box outside the ICA building or nearby post box. Contact link for ICA office Contact link
- Refer the office contact details in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section below for address details.
- Download the application form from the following online link
- Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
- Check the application form and then put it in the box.
- Now pay the required fee through Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card, American Express (AMEX) credit card.
- The officer after validating the application form and the documents will send an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
- Once it is processed, notification will be sent through SMS, email or post.
- You can make an appointment to collect the passport within one month after approval in the following online link in the drop down menu, select “collection of passport”. Fill in the required details and submit by clicking on the “submit” button.
- Refer to the pink notification card/ email sent to you for more information. The documents to bring for your collection of passport will be mentioned in it.
- The passport can be collected at ICA Building after making an appointment.
- The passport can also be collected from SingPost office. You need to bring current passport (if applicable) and original NRIC to collect it from there.
- The passport can also be collected in person from iCollect which is a self-service machine present on the ground floor of the ICA Building.
Apply In-Person through Singapore Overseas Mission
- Applicants shall visit the nearby office of embassy which is Singapore Overseas mission. Contact details of embassies Contact link
- Refer the office contact details in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section below for address details.
- The embassy will help you to forward the application to the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)
- Collect the application form from the office.
- Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
- Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
- Now pay the required fee to the concerned authority.
- The officer after validating the application form and the documents will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
- Once it is processed, the embassy will inform the applicant through email.
- The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip when going to collect the passport.
Apply Online
- The applicant shall visit the website in the following online link
- Click on “Apply for passport (self)” button if you are applying passport for yourself. Click on “Apply for passport (On behalf of others)” button if you are applying passport for others.
- Log into the SingPass account by typing the “SingPass ID” and “Password” if you have account. Otherwise, you can #create account by clicking on “Register now” button.
- Fill in all the applicants details and click on “next” button.
- Then, upload your recent photograph and click on “next” button.
- Check the details, make declaration and submit the details by clicking on “submit” button.
- You can check the status of the application in the below online link Click on “Enquire application status (online application only)” to check the status.
- After approval, notification will be sent through SMS, email or post. EligibilityEdit
The applicant should be a Singapore resident or Singapore Permanent Resident with a SingPass account.
FeesEdit
The fee is S$70 if you apply online. The fee is S$80 in foreign currency equivalent if you apply at Singapore Overseas Mission.
ValidityEdit
The passport is valid for five years.

Processing TimeEdit
- For online submission of application for passport, the processing time is about one week after submission of the application. It may take longer time.
- If application is sent through Singapore overseas mission, the processing time is about three to four weeks.

- You are not eligible to use the iCollect service if:
- Your age is 16 years or below
- You hold a SAF 11B/ Home Team National Service IC/ digital IC/ temporary IC slip
- You have poor-quality fingerprints or very wet/ dry thumbs/ fingers
- You are applying for the first time
- You have lost or damaged your passport.
- Payment can be done using the following methods for online applications
- Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card
- American Express (AMEX) credit card
- Internet direct debit (DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank internet banking accounts in Singapore)
- PayNow.

Information which might helpEdit
If your passport has a remaining validity of nine months or less when you apply for a new passport, the remaining validity will be added to your new passport. Your application processing will be delayed if your photograph is not according to the requirements.
