Procedure

• The “Sikkim Teacher Eligibility Test (STET)” is conducted by the Human Resource Development Department to determine the eligibility of candidates as teachers in government or private schools.
• There will be an official notification release by the respective board for STET. On the issue of notification, the deserving candidates shall apply to register for the STET.

Apply In-Person:

1. The applicant shall approach their respective district office of the Joint Director Exam/Scholarship to apply. Please use the following link to know the office for the respective district Link please use the contact number to identify the right office for your area.
2. Please visit the respective office and consult with the designated authority to know the applying procedure. Please collect the application form (by making a cash payment of Rs.200 towards the application form) or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
3. Please complete the application form. Attach all the documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated authority as per the office meant for your district with applicable exam fee.
4. Authorities will check the submitted application and documents to make sure that the applicant is eligible for the test and all the required documents are in place. If eligible and the documents are in place, the application will be accepted.
5. Authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using computer. The applicant will be provided with a record number (application ID) as acknowledgement for future reference.
6. The application will be processed further.
7. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile.
8. Once the applications is processed, the department will issue notification on issue of the admit cards. The candidate shall follow the notifications.
9. As notified, the candidates may collect their admit card from the respective office/centre as appropriate. If there is any discrepancy in the details on the admit card against the one they applied, then the candidate shall reach the respective office where they applied to correct them.
10. As per the notified date, the applicant shall appear for the examination at the given Centre. The date for which will be notified later.

Eligibility

• The candidate should be the citizen of India.
• The age limit for the candidates is 18 Years to 40 Years.
• For those who belong to SC, ST, and OBC, age relaxation in the upper age limit is 5 Years.
• Candidates should be class 12 passed or a graduate from a recognized university with a minimum of 45 per cent marks.
• Candidates should have obtained a Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) or completed any other prescribed teacher training programme/course.

Fees

• Application form fee: Rs 200/-.

Validity

• The approved application is valid for the period (year) for which the examination is notified.
