A forestry license is a legal document or permit that grants individuals or organizations the authority to engage in specific activities related to forestry. Applicants can use the wood-based industries form for applying for the license

Apply In Person:

  1. To Apply for Forestry License, the applicant has to approach the state forest department link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form and affix the passport-size photograph of the applicant.
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. If required, the department will conduct the physical inspection of the premises/area to make sure, that the said premises/area doesn’t fall under the restricted zone for issuance of the license.
  12. The department will also investigate to check whether the applicant was convicted or penalized in any Criminal/Forest offense case.
  13. Based on the above verification, inspection, and investigation, a report will be submitted to the respective sanctioning authority.
  14. Also, the application will be forwarded to the respective state-level committee.
  15. Once the state-level committee assesses the case. Once the assessment is completed, the committee will provide their remarks (approval) to the sanctioning authority.
  16. Based on the outcome of the above report, recommendation, and other internal processing, the designated authority will grant the license with his/her seal and signature.
  17. The license will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying, or issued as per applicable norms.
  18. This entire process can be completed in 60 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

  • The applicant should be a citizen of India.
  • The applicant must be 18 years and above are eligible to apply.
  • A registered private limited company or a partnership company or a proprietorship company is eligible to apply for this procedure.
  • In the states other than Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim, wood-based industries shall ordinarily be not allowed to be established within ten kilometers aerial distance from the boundary of nearest notified forests and protected areas.
  • The applicant should not be convicted or penalized in any Criminal/Forest offense case.
