- A couple that wishes to marry can request that the marriage be celebrated publicly by a civil status officer from the main civil status center responsible for the place of domicile or residence of one of the two spouses, the couples should visit the civil status center office at least 20 days before celebrating the wedding to file the request. (Please view contact details below).
- Submit the supporting documents (mentioned under “Required Documents” section below) to the civil registrar.
- The clerk will then verify, if all the necessary information and documents have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria if everything is in order;
- The Act establishing the marriage is immediately drawn up, signed, and stamped by the registrar and part 1 and two-family booklets are issued to the couples immediately.
- The registrar will then publicized the banns, 15 days before the planned date of the wedding, inviting the general public to submit their objection regarding the marriage. (Except in the case of exemption authorized by the public prosecutor).
- If the is no public objection, the main civil status officer will then conduct the marriage ceremony on the planned date of the wedding.
- NB: The civil status officer of the secondary center is not authorized to celebrate a marriage.

- A copy of the birth certificates dating from less than 3 months of the 2 spouses bearing the mention "issued with a view to marriage"
- A certified copy of the identity documents of both spouses
- A certified copy of the witnesses' identity documents
- NB: People who do not have a birth certificate must present a notoriety certificate issued by the departmental court of the place of birth.

EligibilityEdit
Future spouses and should meet the following criteria;
- They must be at least: 18 years old for the man and 16 years old for the woman except exemption granted by the president of the regional court for a serious reason after an investigation
- They must be of different sex
- They must personally consent to the marriage even if they are minors
- They must have the consent of the parent or the person providing custody of the future minor spouse is required at marriage
- They must not be related until the 3rd degree
- A widowed or divorced woman cannot remarry until the expiration of the period of widowhood or widowhood.
- A previously married man can only enter into a new union within the limits of the option he had taken out
- The presence of future spouses is compulsory on the wedding day
- The presence of two adult witnesses, one for each spouse with an identity document, is mandatory
