In Senegal Application

  1. A Certificate of Non-Registration of death, should be applied for when completing the declaration of death, if this declaration has been undertaken for more than one year after the death, the person concerned should visit the civil status center office of the place of death. (Please view contact and address details below).
  2. Express your interest to the registrar, present at least one of the supporting documents (as mentioned below) to the registrar to be validated.
  3. If any of the supporting documents are not available, the applicant can verbally provide the references of the death certificate (date, certificate number, etc.).
  4. The registrar will then verify, if all the necessary information and documents have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria, if everything is in order, you will then be required to pay for a sticker, whose value varies according to the localities.
  5. The registrar will then search on the records to ensure that the death has not been registered if satisfied that the death is not registered and recorded.
  6. He /she (registrar) will then draw-up the certificate on plain paper, sign, and stamp it, to certify that the death has not been registered in the records of the center. The certificate is then issued to the applicant.


Abroad application

  1. For death that took place abroad, the person concerned should contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the diplomatic or consular representation of Senegal in the country of death, for the application process.
  2. People residing abroad can contact the diplomatic or consular representation of Senegal in the country of residence for the application process.

The following persons are eligible;

  • The successors or an authorized person (descendants, heirs or legatees, ascendants, spouse, or close relatives)
  • The village chief or the neighborhood representative Administrative Authority
  • Judicial authorities (public prosecutor, etc.)


FeesEdit

You must pay for a sticker whose value varies according to the localities:

  • 200 to 500 FCFA in the municipalities
  • 75 to 150 FCFA in rural communities
