Register as a voter
- To register as a voter, submit an application to the administrative committees on electoral lists. A citizen may register as a voter in any electoral commission, regardless of their place of residence or place of voting. The number and location of registration stations are fixed by a decree. There are also mobile registration fees.
- For Senegalese living abroad, they may register as a voter at the diplomatic mission (embassy or consulate) in the country they are currently residing. In case of a dispute, the head of the diplomatic mission (the consul or the ambassador) has 20 days to issue a decision regarding the dispute.
- Senegalese living abroad can also register with the administrative committees established in Senegal in case they are in Senegal during the voter registration period set by the commission.
- At the time of registration on the electoral roll, the citizen must state his/her exact address in the locality where he/she intends to vote.
- In case the application to be registered as a voter is denied, the citizen will be notified in writing by the President of the commission. The citizen has 5 days to appeal the decision, this may be done by making a simple declaration to the clerk of the county court.
Obtain voter registration card
- The period during which the state conduct the registration of citizens as voters and issue voter cards prsise is under an order signed and released by the Interior Minister.
- The physical presence of the applicant is mandatory during the process of obtaining a voter registration card.
- Electoral rolls are usually reviewed at the beginning of each calendar year. There is also a special review organized during an election year. During these time, voters may file any change in their electoral situation or correct an error.
- When you register as a voter, a receipt will be issued to you. For receipt holders who have not yet received their voter card may inform the commission's officer in the place the citizen registered for further assistance.
Required DocumentsEdit
- Senegalese national identity card (even expired ones will be accepted, those issued beginning 1979) or a birth certificate dated within one year.
- For military or paramilitary personnels, you will need to present a business card or a certificate in lieu thereof.

- Senegalese citizens, at least 18 years old.
- Registered on the electoral roll and has a right to vote
Note: A citizen who has not reached the age of 18 may be allowed to registered as a voter as long as he/she will be 18 on the day of the close of business registration as voters or polling day in the case of exceptional revision of electoral rolls.
