Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To make the Declaration of Recognition of a Child, the father or future father should visit the civil status center office where the mother or future mother resides, at any time from the third month of pregnancy, in the case where the child has not yet being born. (Please view contact and address details below).
2. The father presents himself with his national identity card and references (surname, first names, date and place of birth, address) of the mother and makes a verbal declaration of recognition of paternity to the civil registrar.
3. At the end of the declaration, the registrar will enter the parents’ details into the recognition registration record and draw up, sign, and stamp and then issue part number 1 of the act of recognition to the father immediately.
4. If the child has not yet been born, the registrar mentions at the beginning of the act "recognition of unborn child". If the child has already been born, the registrar mentions at the beginning of the act “recognition of a natural child”
