Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To apply for a water connection, an applicant should visit the nearest Senegalese Des Eaux (SDE) branch agency near the residence and express your interest at the customer service desk.(please view address detail under Office Locations & Contacts section below)
2. Collect necessary forms which are to be completed accurately and endorsed by an authorized authority (town planning, municipality, rural community)
3. Attach all the required documents (see required document below); and submit the documents to be verified and registered by the SDE agent.
4. Once the file has been established, you will be required to pay for the measurement costs, you will be issued with an acknowledgment slip and an appointment booking for a site survey,
5. The application file is then transmitted to the technical service for study, by the technical sales agents and the quantity surveyors.
6. The SDE surveyor’s team will then be sent to the site {residence} to inspect its feasibility and write a report.
7. The report will then validated by the technical agent or the district manager in the regions for simple connection, the head of service, or the director for the extension and draw a receipt indicating an estimated cost of the layout connection materials from the main water pipe.
8. The file along with the payment receipt is then returned to the reception desk, to be issued to the applicant, who then decides if and when to make the connection fee.
9. If you agree to make the payment, the reception agent fills in and signs the contract form and sends it to the customer service manager for signature.
10. The file is recorded on the computer, then sent to the cash register where you will be advised to make payment against the connection receipt.
11. Upon payment, you will be issued a payment receipt as well as the original copy of the contract.
12. A copy of the file is then sent to the accounting department for the journaling of the receipts. A second copy is sent to technical service and a third is filed with customer service.
13. The technical service team will then visit the residence for external works, meter installation, and water flow within 10 days in Dakar and 15 days in other regions.
14. Upon completing the installation, a meter installation form will be issued to you by the technical service team to be completed, sign and then place in your file. The file is then sent to reception for updating and invoicing.

Required Documents

For individuals

• A water connection request in the form of a form to be collected from a Sen'Eau agency, to be completed and endorsed by the authorized authority (Town planning, Municipality, Rural community)
• A legalized copy of the identity document (driving license, national identity card, passport, military booklet)
• A certificate of ownership to be supplied or a certificate from the neighborhood representative or a certificate issued by the mayor or the president of the rural community (PCR)
• A legalized authorization from the owner of the premises in the case of a tenant

For legal entities

• A request in the form of a letter from the authorized official of the institution addressed to the Director General of Sen'Eau.
• A legalized copy of the identity document

Eligibility

• Any persons/businesses/companies, living or located in Senegal are eligible.

Fees

• Amount of measurement costs: 5,203 FCFA
• Amount of the estimate (deposit, stamp, and amount of services): depends on the distance and the calibration of the meter

Validity

• The validity of the connection is forever unless one fail’s to pay the water bill, which may lead to disconnection of the water service.

Processing Time
