Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a Curatorship, the concerned person should visit the public prosecutor office or to the civil status office where the death occurred to file the process.
  2. Submit the request letter attached to the supporting (as mentioned below) to the verified by the prosecutor or the civil status officer and verbally provided any useful information that may be brought to your attention about the deceased, i.e. whether or not the deceased left sums of money, household effects or papers at the place of death, etc.
  3. The Prosecutor or the civil status officer will then verify, if all the necessary information and documents have been provided and note down the information, if everything is in order the application file will then be forwarded to the competent court for evaluation and consideration.
  4. The court will then conduct due diligence, the curator will then be appointed for the administration of estates and vacant property, the functions of ex officio curator are fulfilled within the jurisdiction of each departmental court by the receiver of the registration of taxes and estates.

Important notes

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Curatorship is the administration of property left vacant by a deceased person under certain conditions specified by law. It makes it possible to decide what to do with property, sums of money, household effects, papers and other belongings left by the deceased to his wife (s) and children.
  • The role of the curator is to provisionally administer assets and values ​​on behalf of potential or virtual heirs. As soon as the curator becomes aware of a death and does not present himself as heir, universal legatee or executor, he is responsible for supervising and speeding up operations and case management.
