Procedure

Apply-In-Person
In Senegal Application

1. To apply for a Certificate of Non-Registration of Marriage, the person concerned should visit the civil status center office of the place of marriage.(Please view contact and address details below).
2. Express your interest to the registrar, present the spouses' identity documents to the registrar to be validated.
3. The registrar will then verify, if all the necessary information and documents have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria, if everything is in order, you will then be required to pay for a sticker, whose value varies according to the localities.
4. The registrar will then search on the records to ensure that the marriage has not been registered if satisfied that the marriage is not registered and recorded.
5. He /she (registrar) will then draw-up the certificate on plain paper, sign, and stamp it, to certify that the marriage has not been registered in the records of the center. The certificate is then issued to the applicant.
   

Abroad application

1. For a marriage that was celebrate abroad or People residing abroad, the person concerned should contact the diplomatic or consular representation of Senegal in the country where the marriage was celebrated, in a case where the Senegal embassy is not available; the applicant should contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2. The application can be filed either in person or by mail or by post, please consult with the embassy as not all the embassy offers mail and post services.
3. The Embassy's consular service section will be able to help process your request to obtain a Certificate of Non-Registration of marriage, upon submitting the supporting documentation as mentioned below under the “Required Documents” section of this page to be verified and registered by the receiving officer.
4. If any of the supporting documents are not available, the applicant can verbally provide the references of the marriage certificate (date, certificate number, etc.).
5. Upon receipt of your request, it will be processed and the Certificate of Non-Registration of Marriage will be signed, and stamped by the authorized official and issued to the applicant against their identity document in person or sent to it via mail or post;{if the embassy offers the mail and post services)
   

Please Note:

• Applicants who want their processed certificate of Non-Registration of marriage sent to them by post are advised to attach one of the following to their request(s):

• A registered self-addressed envelope with the appropriate stamps (letter recommendée);
• A pre-paid envelope from any recognized courier service provider.
• Please note; Not all embassies offer the post/mail return service (please consult with the embassy first)

Eligibility

Fees

You must pay for a sticker whose value varies according to the localities:

• 200 to 500 FCFA in the municipalities
• 75 to 150 FCFA in rural communities
