Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a Certificate of Non-Divorce and Non-Legal Separation, the person concerned accompanied by the two witnesses should visit the civil status center of the place of residence or the place of the declaration of marriage. (Please view contact and address details below).
  2. Express your interest to the registrar, and submit the supporting documents (mentioned under required documents section below) to the registrar to be validated.
  3. The registrar will then verify, if all the necessary information and documents have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria, if everything is in order, you will then be required to pay for a sticker, whose value varies according to the localities.
  4. The registrar will then search through the registration records, for the marriage registration recorded, if registered, and record/note down the sworn statements from the witnesses vowing that the couples are not separate and still live together or were not legally separate if one of the spouses is deceased.
  5. The registrar will then draw-up the certificate on plain paper, sign, and stamp it, to certify that the couples are not divorced or legally separated. The certificate is then issued to the applicant immediately.

  • One of the 2 spouses or the spouse of a deceased person
  • The successors (children/parents/ widower or a widower)
  • A duly authorized person



FeesEdit

You must pay for a sticker whose value varies according to the localities:

  • 200 to 500 FCFA in the municipalities
  • 75 to 150 FCFA in rural communities

  • After the marriage, to constitute an administrative file.
  • The certificate of non-divorced and non-legal separation is issued in the event of the death of the husband or wife so that the person concerned can benefit from the rights relating to his or her status of widower or widow (Pension reversion, etc.).
