Apply Online:
- To Apply for a Provisional Driving Licence, the applicant has to make the application online via the following link
- The applicant has to click “Start Now” to make the online application.
- Next the applicant has to answer the questionnaires and complete the application form will all the necessary details.
- Next the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Review the application and click “submit”
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested.
- After successful payment the applicant can download the receipt as a proof of payment.
- DVLA will send the applicant a confirmation email once he/she has applied.
- All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
- Once everything is accepted DVLA will send the license through post.
- The entire process can be completed within 7 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Get the applicant’s first provisional driving licence for a car, motorbike, moped or other vehicle from DVLA online.
To apply the applicant must:
- Be at least 15 years and 9 months old
- Be able to read a number plate from 20 metres away
- Have been given permission to live in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) for at least 185 days
