Here are some of the useful information on widow parents’ allowance in Scotland

  • FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Widowed Parent's Allowance provides financial support to eligible widowed parents. It is a regular, tax-free payment made by the government to help with living costs after the loss of a spouse or civil partner.
  • The duration of Widowed Parent's Allowance depends on various factors. It is typically paid for up to 52 weeks from the date of death of the applicant’s spouse or civil partner. After that, the applicant may be eligible for other benefits such as Bereavement Allowance or Universal Credit.
  • IMPACT ON OTHER BENEFITS: Widowed Parent's Allowance can have implications for other benefits the applicant receives, so it's important to consider the overall impact on his/her benefits and seek advice if necessary.
