Apply Online

  1. To Apply for Security License, the has to create online account using the following link link
  2. The applicant must click “Register for Personal Account” and enter credentials to create an account.
  3. Then login to the account and select “start a new application.” This will take the applicant to the licence application form.
  4. The applicant must complete all 9 sections of the form before he/she can submit his/her application.
  5. In section 1 of the form, the applicant needs to consent (agree) to us checking their identity and criminal record. The applicant needs to agree to this first before he/she can complete the rest of the form.
  6. The applicant can complete sections 2 to 8 of the form in any order he/she wants. The applicant can also save any information he/she puts in the form in case he/she wants to return it at another time.
  7. Once the applicant complete sections 2 to 8, it is recommended taking some time to check that the information he/she has given is correct and complete.
  8. Once the applicant submit his/her application form, he/she will not be able to change the information he/she has given.
  9. The final section of the form (section 9) is a declaration that the information he/she has given us in the rest of the form is true and complete.
  10. Read this declaration carefully. If the applicant has completed the rest of the form and he/she is happy to agree to the declaration, tick “I agree” and submit his/her application.
  11. If the applicant is applying for a front line licence, he/she must have the correct qualification to be able to submit his/her application. Read more about the training he/she needs for an SIA licence.
  12. Once the applicant has completed and submitted the application form, the authority will send him/her a next steps message. This will tell the applicant:
  13. The applicant’s application reference number
  14. What the applicant needs to do next
  15. The authority may also send the applicant a ‘further information request’ at a later point.
  16. The applicant must follow all of the instructions in these messages. If he/she does not, the authority will not be able to complete their application checks. This means that the application will not move to the next stage.
  17. If the applicant live in the UK, the next steps message will usually ask him/her to go to a Post Office to continue the application. A member of staff at the Post Office will:
  18. Ask application reference number
  19. Check the documents the applicant brings to prove his/her identity
  20. Take a photo of the applicant
  21. Then the post office in charge will request to pay the license fee.
  22. If the Applicant have spent more than 6 continuous months outside of the UK in the last 5 years, we will also ask the applicant to send us evidence of overseas criminal record checks.
  23. Once everything is accepted, the authority will issue the license by email or post
  24. This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

To be eligible for a security license, the applicant must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a British citizen or have the right to work in the UK
  • Have a clean criminal record
  • Pass a security guard training course
  • Pass a security guard exam

  • The Security License Card costs £184 to apply for 1 license.
